This is the weirdest road debris I’ve ever seen. Apparently someone was driving along, saw something in the air, hit it, and kept driving for another 18 miles. They didn’t realize it had impaled their car nor what it was until they stopped for gas...
Please discuss.

So, who else knew immediately that it was a Springfield XD?

I think that’s taking “open carry” a little too far.

They should get re-licensed. You’re not supposed to point it at yourself.

Score. Those things are worth a few bucks.

*raises hand*
I’ve shot a couple of those. Not exactly a cheap gun, when my wife first showed it to me, I instinctively thought, “Hi-Point? Kel-Tec?”, then I was like, “damn, someone probably misses that”.

Someone is looking REALLY hard for their handgun right now.
I’d bet someone put in the roof/tonneau cover while getting in their vehicle in the morning and promptly forgot it was there. Then it stayed there until it fell off on the highway.

My daily is the XD-S 9mm. I do NOT like the M’s.

Yo dawg, I put a clip in your front clip...

Springfield is taking the Grip Zone thing to the extreme.

This is the weakest attempt at making a Twisted Metal car I’ve ever seen.

Sideways. Civic is gangsta af.

I had to chuckle when the WSP guy mentioned the gun had been turned over to Lakewood PD. You do you Pierce County.

I, for one, am glad that our politicians are living up to their campaign slogan, “A Gun For Every Car.”

I freaking love my XDM. I will fight you. (I admit I got the Sig because it’s smaller though)

I recognized it too. I have an XDM 9mm and love that gun. My wife is obsessed with shooting when we’re able too.

Motorcyclist.
Saw a guy wearing one open carry on his hip while riding. Legal, but odd looking. I was wondering what would happen if it nudged out of the friction fit holster.
I guess it ends up in the front of someone’s car haha.

Totally stealing that for future use!

I mean...My car’s caught a stray bullet once, but I can’t say I’ve ever heard of a car catching a stray gun ! Someone had a panic attack when they realized something isn’t where they left it.

Well, at least the owner got something of value to help defray the cost of the damage repair I guess?
And whoever owned that kinda deserves to lose it, unless there was some weird freaky cause that I can’t think of, IMHO.

Becaue it’s but ugly and has the ergos of a brick?

Only in America...

Jesus, some people.
Repeat after me: You shoot the
bullets,
you hold the gun.
Somewhere there’s someone in a car holding a bunch of bullets, very confused about what just happened.

Thats crazy! In America, guns are road debris lol
Must have fallen out of this fancy holster....

Motorcyclist might be the answer, but I’d bet he set it on the roof while he loaded his other stuff and forgot about it. My wife lost a cell phone this way. Her boss lost a laptop. I once saw a guy with a shotgun balanced on the roof rack of his blazer. I told him when we stopped at the next light.

Did they pull the trigger to see if it was loaded?

I found the ergo decent. They are ugly, though. But let’s be real: All modern semi-auto pistols are really ugly.

It’s possible it had one in the chamber, but it definitely didn’t have a magazine in it by the time it hit the car. I’m sure the officer removed it without touching the trigger and secured it.

See, what I was asking was if it was the redneck test or if it was normal people.
For example, a Darwin award once went to a guy who realized his 22 caliber long rifle bullets worked in place of blown fuses in his truck.
I feel the need to file these stories all in one place in my head.

It made it to the news and involved the police, clearly not a redneck. Considering they’re up here in this region, there’s about a 70% chance that they’re absolutely terrified of the things.

+1 for comedic effect in that case!

Everyone’s commenting about it slipping out of a motorcyclist’s holster or being left on a roof and here my immediate thought was wondering if someone had tossed it on purpose

That would make sense, but it seems like a bad way to dispose of a weapon if it’s somewhere it is likely to be found.

Less bad if the serial number is gone and/or it’s been wiped down. It also could have just been a bad throw (aiming for a stream/ditch/culvert in the shoulder but wound up short)
